Yesterday my macbook started behaving weirdly with strange screen artefacts (multiple boxes and coloured lines). The screen was so scrambled I could only shut down by holding down the the power key. Couldn’t boot in recovery as screen was scrambled. Reset the PRAM. Eventually did manage to run AHT and I left the mac running overnight doing an extended test which said there were no problems. This morning I managed to get it to start up in recovery mode as it seemed to be behaving normally. Did a disk verification and repair which it said was successful. Used mac as normal all day and thought everything was sorted but same thing has happened again and now it won’t boot into recovery mode or as normal. When I start up I get the apple logo and chime – then the spinning ball as normal, then a momentary black screen then a mid grey screen of nothing. Can’t figure out why I can’t start up from the recovery partition and I am thinking that my Mac is toast. Help somebody.
